Time to Get Cooking!

First, an update on last week's challenge.

5 skills I wanted to work on were:

1. Washing the dishes every night before I turn in for the night and putting them away in the morning. (I can hear my mom laughing now)  I did pretty well - almost every night.  It felt good!  I think I'll keep it going!

2. Straightening up my den before bed at night. This is the room with my TV and big comfy couch, it tends to be a space where I do lots of things. However, it is a tiny room and gets cluttered quickly. This was great.  It made me feel better that it wasn't so cluttered when I would come into the den to watch some TV at night.

3. Laundry - weekly. I'm really good at almost all of laundry detail - until it comes to the "remove from the dryer and fold" part. I can't begin to tell you how often I use that "wrinkle release" setting!!  There is currently a load of finished laundry sitting in my dryer not yet folded.  Sigh.

4. Planning my meals. I actually started doing this last week. When Isaac was here, I was fairly good about sitting down and planning our meals, because he liked to know what we were having for dinner. Since it's just me again, I have been a slacker in this area. By not planning my meals, I spend more time and money at the grocery store. I also eat less healthy and tend to eat out more.  Done!

5. Setting up a cleaning schedule. Ugh. I am really, really terrible at this. But I'm going to try!  Ok, not done. Oops.

This week's challenge is one I have been excited about!  They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, so it is time to start practicing some recipes! Check out websites, cookbooks, and ask friends for their favorites. Invite some friends over for dinner, I'm sure they won't mind taste testing!

I loooooove to cook.  That's one "wife" thing I do not have a problem with.  Many people assume that unmarried gals like myself eat out most of the time.  I am quite the contrary!  I cook for myself many nights a week.  So this week I'm going to try out a few new recipes.  At the end of the week I'll share some pics and recipe reviews with you!

Monday - Rachael Ray's Fish Tacos
Tuesday - Greek Turkey Burgers
Wednesday - Baked Fish w/ a side of fresh tomato/basil pasta
Thursday - having some dinner with friends
Friday - Rachael Ray's "You Won't Be Single For Long Penne w/ Vodka Sauce" (How can I NOT try this dish?)

Sounds good to me - time to get cooking!

As usual...

  1. I love Rachel Ray's cookbooks! :o) And I'm in the same boat as you - I'm trying desperately to plan my meals and set up a cleaning schedule! I'll be praying for you!
