I wrote a post last summer about the ridiculous things I was seeing in online dating profiles. Then, in the early Spring I told you how I had cancelled my online dating subscriptions. Well, that lasted a few months and then it was summer and I was bored so - I decided to try again. And I have had zero dates. Not just zero dates, but zero prospective dates...zero profiles that even made me think "Hey this guy could be interesting". Just nothing.
Last night, I was surfing one such online dating site and the comments I was reading made me laugh out loud. So, I thought I'd share with you all so you could appreciate them, too. The following are actual things I cut and pasted from profiles:
"I'm 27 years old and I am 100% sober, so I'm looking for someone who DOES NOT do drugs! "
"I really enjoy wearing fedoras and I have one for each season."
"Like a fine pirate crew, we'd drink each other under the table and dress in clothes that don't match"
"i do conventions at least once a month selling custom Fangs and my other things i make."
" I am a very close and cuddly person that is a master in tickle tackles."
"I send so many emails for work that I am use to spell checking, so odds are I will have sent you an email I typed in Word to make sure it is grammatically correct, and then past it in to send to you. " (too bad this sentence used the incorrect form of "passed")
"I want a girl who is a tigeress on the outside and a softie on the inside."
" I believe a city must be an extended family, where even moments at a stoplight with other cars and pedestrians are special and bonding"
With choices like that, what could go wrong?

The whole stop light bonding experience gave me a laugh. (:
ReplyDeleteWow, just wow.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I actually would totally reply to some of those!
ReplyDelete(PS-- did he mean "paste", as in "copy and paste" his word docs? I think that may be more forgivable than using the incorrect past tense? ;)
Oh my! This is one reason why I never got into online dating in the first place. There are all kinds of people in this world - but I am sure you're just looking for ONE kind....and I'm also pretty sure that kind wasn't featured among these ones. lol!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious! And I don't agree that there are plenty of fish in the sea. I think good, Godly men are hard to find.
