Pinterest Project Reviews

Hi, my name is Jess, and I'm a pin-aholic.  Anyone know what I mean??  I pin so many things on Pinterest that I could spend a week doing projects and still not create them all!  I decided this week that I'd tackle a few simple pins, and see how they turned out!

Painted Bottles
{tutorial pinned from here}

My finished product:

These were SO EASY!  Plus, since I used paint samples I already had on hand and bottles I'd been hoarding collecting, it didn't cost me any money!  It was a quick project and I'm super happy with how it turned out!

Chocolate Covered Kiwi Pops
{pinned from here}

My finished product:
I'm a huge fan of frozen fruit covered in chocolate.  These chocolate/PB bananas are one of my favorite treats!  I've now made the chocolate covered kiwi bites twice.  They are yummy!  I used dark chocolate, dipped the kiwi slices into it, and froze for about 20-30 minutes.  These are a great way to end a chocolate craving!

T-shirt Upcycled into Workout Tank
{tutorial pinned here}

My finished product
Lately, I've been uncomfortable working out in baggy t-shirts.  The sleeves get on my nerves and as they get sweaty, they get baggier and I just feel sloppy.  When I spotted this tutorial, I had to try it!  I'm happy with the way the shirt turned out.  I'm going to also cut off the bottom, because it did still get kinda baggy as I worked out.  Overall, I'd do this one again.  It was fast and easy, and a great way to use my t-shirts that are getting too big!

Anyone else habitual pinners, but not doers?
Any fun pins you've created lately?

Now it's almost back-to-school time, so I'd better get busy pinning classroom ideas doing school work!

An absolutely, ridiculously amazing blessing.

Sometimes, God does things that are simply to bless us - things that are unnecessary, beyond what we could ask for, and sometimes just plain old fun.

This happened to me on Monday.  I was sitting in the airport in Orlando after 4 fun days in Disney World with my friend, Bethany. (more on that later!!) She and I had just finished some pizza and had been talking about what it would be like to fly as a celebrity.  We decided that most Christian artists could probably walk through the airport without too many people recognizing them.  I said Jeremy Camp probably just flies regular airlines.  As you know, Jeremy Camp is my all-time favorite.  (I wrote about him here...and here...and also here...and even here)

So Bethany and I finished our pizza and walked down to our gate, where we started looking through pics from our trip on my iPad.  All of a sudden, Bethany says "There's Jeremy Camp.  No joke - JEREMY CAMP."  My response was, naturally, "We have to go say hi!".  And I took off in his direction.

Sure enough, in the airport in Orlando, after what was already a totally awesome trip...we met Jeremy Camp.  Can you believe that?!?!  Out of gate 129, walked Jeremy Camp - who was in town for a marketing conference.  And guess what gate our plane was at?  129.  Maybe, just maybe, I sat in the very same seat he sat in - haha!

Seeing any of the artists I love would've been fun, but seeing Jeremy Camp was an absolutely, ridiculously amazing blessing.

Thanks God, for doing things like this just because You love us.  Just to bless us, even when we've already been blessed so much.

Let's Play Cards!

I've spent the past couple of days in Ocean City, MD with my friend Kathy and her parents at their condo. We've enjoyed the beach, the boat, freshly caught crabs, and quality catch up time.

One other thing Kathy and I have done is to make sure we've gotten in some workouts. Last night we did a short run - and it was ridiculously humid.

Today we did a workout that Mindy, who owns my gym, sent out in an email. This is a great workout to do when traveling because the only thing you need to pack is a deck of cards.

Cards values for every round
Face cards (10)
Aces (11)
Numbers (face value)
Jokers (20 burpees or 50 squats)

Keep in mind if you pull a 2 or low card, be creative to continue to challenge yourself. Example: let's say you pull a 2 and you are to do lunges. Try 2 full, 2 bottom 1/2, 2 top 1/2, 2 full lunges to make it worth it!

Round 1
Count out 10 cards. Turn 1 card over at a time.

Red: push-ups
Black: Squats

Round 2 - 10 more cards

Diamonds: Squat thrusts
Clubs: push-ups
Hearts: Squats
Spades: sit-ups

Round 3 - 10 more cards

Red: lunges(each side)
Black: burpees

Round 4 - 10 more cards

Diamonds: Mountain climbers(each side)
Clubs: push-ups
Hearts: Lunges
Spades: Jump Squats
